Choosing the Perfect Name for Your Baby

Choosing a name for your baby is a very important task. Your child will have his or her name their entire life, so you want to make sure it is a name that will serve your child well.

How to Choose Your Babies name
There are many ways that people choose names. Sometimes it is important to the family and parents to pass an honored family name down through another generation. Other times, there is a specific significance to a particular name, which makes it particularly desirable to use. Other times, it's just a name that the parents have always loved.

However, there is an art to choosing a name for your baby, based on the meaning behind the name. Sometimes the name itself is a word that has meaning, such as Faith or Joy. These types of names are easy to choose for a specific meaning.

Other times, baby names can be chosen that are words that have meanings in other languages. For example, the girl's name of "Adia" means "being a gift" in Nigeria, and the boy's name of "Aden" means "the fiery one" in Arabic. Some people like to pay homage to their heritage by choosing a baby name by its original meaning, such as the Sioux nickname for "first daughter", which is "Winona", or the Sioux word for "hawk", which is "Chaytan".

If you have a particular word in mind, such as "beautiful", you can look up what the translation of this word is in other languages, to find a baby name that you like. For example, "Bello" in Italian, "Beau" in French, "Bonito" in Portuguese, all mean "beautiful". You could choose to use the name as is, or create a variant of the name that you like, such as "Bella" or "Bonnie". In fact, the name "Bonnie" is generally considered to be of Scottish origin, meaning "pretty, attractive or good", and is also sometimes considered to be derived from the French word "bonne", which means "good".

Numerology
Other people believe that choosing a name through numerology is the best way to provide meaning to their child's name. This can be a little complicated, and often involves factoring in the child's date of birth to amplify enhance the numerology energy effect. According to numerology, the goals that are set before a person that they will be striving towards are determined by the energy in the person's first name. The names are calculated to find their energy number, and then this number is matched with the appropriate physical goals for that number. For example, the physical goals of the number 1 are the desire to lead, and a sense of independence. Some popular names with the energy number of 1 are Emily and Joseph. The physical goals of the number 2 are fellowship and friendship. Some popular names with the energy number of 2 are Ethan and Sarah.

Some people believe that a person's name helps to guide their personality and destiny in life, and that by giving your baby a name that is mathematically balanced, for example, that you are providing your child with life-long opportunities. This practice is one that the average person would not understand, and if you desire to use this theory when choosing your baby's name, you would need to seek out somebody to advise you.

Whatever method you use to find meaningful names for your baby, you should always keep a few things in mind. Make sure the name you choose sounds good with your last name, and that it is a name you like the sound of, as you will be saying your child's name thousands of times over your lifetime. To avoid a lifetime of your child having to correct their name, choosing one that is extremely difficult to spell, or which is commonly used for the opposite gender should be avoided. You also want to consider if the name will age gracefully, and will seem as appropriate at age 60 as age 6. Finally, think of common nicknames for the baby name that you are considering, and see how you feel about them. By giving some serious thought and consideration to the name of your baby, you will be giving them their first gift.. their first name.
